About us
Bristows is a medium-sized firm that handles the kind of work you might normally associate with only the very largest firms. Established more than 170 years ago, we have built up a client list that includes leading businesses from a variety of sectors, whether global corporations, growing start-ups, charities or financial institutions.
Working with so many ambitious organisations, we are often advising on issues that shape entire industries and on which a company's future might depend. For example, advising on whether the business is entitled to launch a new product or assisting a client to buy a rival business.
Our size makes this an ideal environment for trainees. As part of a small intake, our trainees work alongside our partners dealing directly with clients right from the start. There's plenty of responsibility but this is matched by an extremely supportive and friendly culture so you're never far from encouragement and advice when you need it.
We recognise that our reputation as a leading City law firm is entirely down to the individuals who work here, so we place great stock in attracting talented people and doing all we can to make sure they enjoy life at Bristows. We're particularly proud of the fact that our firm has one of the highest retention rates in the City, and we aim to offer jobs to all of our trainees at the end of their training contracts.

How to apply
How to apply
At Bristows we interview twice a year, usually in February and August. Candidates considered for an interview in February are usually in their 3rd or final year or have already graduated. We begin considering applications for February interviews in January. If you fall into one of these categories, please apply early to give us time to consider your application.

Winter Workshop
Our workshop is structured to give you an insight into the firm and the work we do. We will run a variety of interactive sessions and presentations during the two days and you will have the opportunity to talk informally with trainees and partners. The aim is to give you an overview of Bristows and our working culture.
Placements
We run placement schemes which give you the chance to work at Bristows over Spring and Summer. It's a great chance to assess whether law as a career, and Bristows as a firm, are for you. Whichever scheme you join, you'll work with a partner or associate and carry out a case study in Intellectual Property law plus a Corporate and Employment case study. The kind of things you'll find yourself doing will include research, drafting documents, attending meetings and you might also go along to court hearings.
Over Spring and Summer we have three separate one-week placements. We currently pay £250 per week.
